BREXIT: YELLOWHAMMER

2019

In 2019, I was made the Brexit Correspondent for The Sunday Times. After less than two months in that role, I broke the biggest story in that sphere: the leak of Operation Yellowhammer, the government's own forecasts for a no deal Brexit. Across the first five pages of The Sunday Times, I was able to show the impact that leaving with no deal would have: chaos at the country's ports, shortages of fuel, food and medicine, a three-month meltdown at its ports, a hard border with Ireland and a collapse in the social care sector.
This story had enormous political ramifications, and saw me short-listed for three press awards in 2020.
